I have been sitting with and contemplating what does it take to truly uncover and live your passion. Of course, this is not a new topic for me – if you look at the cover of my first book “Finding Your Passion: The Easy Guide To Your Dream Career” you will see a photo of a heart with a key opening the heart and inside the book are steps to uncovering and living your passion and purpose.   So again I was reminded that the key to uncovering and living your passion and purpose is your heart.   Then what came to me is that H.E.A.R.T is an acronym that reveals even more steps as you can see below.

H-appy…uncover what makes you happy. I mean this does seem obvious, but can I tell you how many people I have asked this question that can’t honestly answer this. Why is that? It is because so often we get on the treadmill of life of doing our job, being a parent, being in a relationship that sometimes we get lost in all of this and forget to ask ourselves on a regular basis what makes us happy. And what makes us happy can be really simple and really easy to integrate into our lives. For example, being in nature, playing an instrument, traveling, anything that makes us happy – but sometimes we forget to do this – to hit the pause button and ask ourselves am I doing what makes me happy. Take note of what makes you happy – these are the pieces of your passion puzzle as I like to call it. These pieces can often be put together to create a very fulfilling career. As Janet Attwood says in her book The Passion Test – our passions are like breadcrumbs that lead us to our destiny. If you haven’t read The Passion Test yet – I highly recommend it.

E-volve…take steps to evolve to your fullest self and potential. Again, how often do we get stuck and not challenge ourselves. The people that I see that are the most fulfilled are always taking steps to hone their skills, take on new challenges, learn new skills. What is it that you want to learn and improve on?   Think of your end goal – what is it that you really want to be doing and do you need additional skills to do it? Talk to people already where you want to be and ask them what they recommend.

A-ction…take the steps to uncover and live your passion and purpose.   Map out what you want to accomplish and the steps you need to take to get you where you want to be. As Jack Canfield states in his book The Success Principles – Chunk It Down. If you haven’t read The Success Principles yet – another book I highly recommend – actually this is the number 1 book that I recommend. Jack interviewed successful people across the board and came up with 64 principles in all areas of life that make people successful – amazing tips on how to take action and live your dreams.

R-eveal and share your passion and purpose with the world.   Find ways to start sharing what it is that you love and what you feel is the difference you want to make. Write a blog, volunteer in areas you are passionate about, write a book, do speaking engagements, design workshops, create your own position within a company, consult, anything just start getting out there.

T-enacity and perservance to stay the course of living in your path and on purpose and doing what makes you happy.   Ok let’s face it – it can be challenging to go after your dreams. First, there are a lot of naysayers out there that will tell you that it can’t happen – don’t listen to them. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people and be that person for others.   Also in my book Finding Your Passion – one of my main goals was to interview inspiring people many of who overcame many challenging obstacles to live their passion and their purpose and they did it. You can see some interviews from some of these amazing people interviewed in my book on my YouTube Channel – www.youtube.com/marcym. Also in The Success Principles, Jack Canfield also shares many inspiring stories.   If others can live their dreams, why can’t you.

No more excuses. Take the steps today to live in your H.E.A.R.T and go after your dreams and uncover and live your passion and purpose.
