You know those people in your life who inspire you by just who they are – one of those people for me is my dear friend Annette Gregg with her giant heart and desire to help others.  She is making a huge difference in this world via her company Difference Maker Conferences where she organizes powerful and impactful events to help inspire and support others to be their best selves and live their best lives.  I have been so honored to be a speaker at her last two events – RiseUp and DevelopU.   I asked Annette to share more about her Passion + Purpose = World Change formula and her journey and this is what she had to say:

1) What is your Passion + Purpose = World Change formula

I feel that we can be agents of change if every role we play. As a mother, friend, volunteer and executive, I want to treat people with respect and kindness and help them reach their next levels. Others have done that for me and I feel it’s my obligation to do that whenever possible. As for me it’s Love + Service = Growth

2) How did you uncover your passion and purpose?

Have always felt that I have natural leadership abilities, and I’m very comfortable teaching and speaking. I realized about two years ago when I got laid off that so many people are stuck when they’re in times of transition. I remember going to an out placement course in seeing once confident executives very insecure and questioning their worth. I know I want to help people get to their next level whether they’re changing jobs getting divorced, or facing any life challenge. We are worthy, no matter what situation we are in.

3) What steps did you take to live your passion and purpose?

Last year I launched two conferences to help people get to their next level, a woman’s conference and a co-ed professional development conference. I relied on my partnerships with San Diego State University after teaching with them for years, and my greater network of women. I’m very proud of their results and participant feedback. We all have gifts to share, and my speakers pour their talents and experiences into these events to help others rise.

4) I talk a lot about putting together the pieces of your passion puzzle to create the life of your dreams? How do you feel that you have done this?

I’ve had many successful jobs, and also been through layoffs and companies closing. I’ve been married 20 years, and also had time if relationship crisis. I have felt compelled to help others by sharing my experiences, and always look for outlets to do that- conferences, keynotes, writing, coaching.

5) What advice do you have for others who are looking to uncover and live their passion and purpose.

Identify what their heart is drawn to, what pulls them. Once they get a vision, talk to others about making this a reality. Don’t get stuck in over-planning, instead make short-term goals that get the momentum going and build confidence. Don’t let fear get in the way.
